Profile
Superb 17th Century Country Inn, set amidst Shropshire’s rolling hills with stunning views over the Severn Valley & Chelmarsh Reservoir and offering a unique mix of Bed & Breakfast and Self-catering accommodation.
Situated in the village of Chelmarsh, 4 miles south of historic Bridgnorth, the Bull’s Head is an ideal base for exploring all of the many local attractions, including Ironbridge, Ludlow, Much Wenlock, Bewdley, Severn Valley Steam Railway, West Midlands Safari Park, RAF Cosford Museum, and many others in the increasingly popular County of Shropshire, and neighbouring Worcestershire.
There are several attractive golf courses in the area, fishing on the nearby River Severn and other well stocked local private pools. Cycle hire is available to take advantage of the newly opened ‘Route 45’ cycle route, and the Inn overlooks Chelmarsh Sailing Club at Chelmarsh Reservoir.
The Inn has many original features including exposed beams and stonewalls in the bar areas, where a good selection of traditional beers are served, from 12.00 noon throughout the day, seven days a week. The Inn is open throughout the year, and generates a warm and friendly atmosphere with an interesting blend of visitors from UK and overseas, and local residents.
An excellent variety of food is prepared by our fully trained Chef and staff, is available throughout the day, and can be selected from the ‘Bar & Garden’ menu, the ‘daily specials’ from the blackboard, or an appealing a ‘la carte menu served in the conservatory restaurant from 6.00pm, utilising local produce and our own herb garden. Traditional Sunday Lunch is served from 12.00 noon until 5.00pm, in both the Inn and Conservatory Restaurant. This is complimented by an extensive Wine List offering an interesting combination of ‘New World’ and traditional wines.
The Conservatory Restaurant can seat 50, and is available for small private parties, and coach parties are welcome by appointment. Special menus can be provided to suit your requirements.
The accommodation consists of nine en-suite guestrooms offering bed and breakfast or dinner, bed and breakfast tariffs, and was awarded ‘4 Star Inn Accommodation’ status by ‘Visit Britain – Quality in Tourism’. We also have seven self-catering cottages / apartments, awarded ‘3 Star – Self-Catering’ status, and all are situated within the grounds of the Inn with its pretty and well- maintained gardens.
We offer two ground floor bedrooms and one self-catering apartment for people who may have disabilities and/or require wheelchair access. This accommodation is equipped with ramps, wide doors, grab rails, and drive-in showers.
The Bull’s Head is a popular haunt for Fishermen, utilising both the Inn and the self-catering cottages for parties of varying numbers, and we provide a lock-up store for tackle and fridges for bait.
There are many interesting walks in and around Chelmarsh and Bridgnorth and the Wyre Forest is only a short drive with its many Woodland walks.
We offer a friendly welcome to ‘The Bull’s Head’, and whatever the reason for your stay in Shropshire, we will make every endeavour to accommodate your requirements and make your stay as pleasant and as memorable as possible.
